Just came across a definition of depression that Sarah Silverman shared a few years back that I just love !

This is what she told her stepdad about depression : “It feels like I’m desperately homesick, but I’m home” !

There are obviously many other definitions out there, but the ones that always ring the truest for me, usually come from someone who’s been there !

That’s it ! The sense of nostalgia and melancholy that comes over you, seemingly from nowhere without a real ending in sight ! Without knowing when you’ll get to “go back home” ?
And it’s us ! We’re what’s missing. What an absolute mind f*ck !!

And that’s why it’s so important to realize that no one in their right mind would actually choose to be in this state and the people who do find themselves navigating these particular troubled waters, deserve all of our respect and grace.

If you recognize yourself in her definition ; No it’s not normal, (but you are!) and Yes you definitely deserve a much better experience of life !
